The Power of Information in Retail at Ecommerce Day

In his presentation at Ecommerce Day, Nisum Director of Insights & Analytics, Ramachandran “Ravi” Narayanan explained value-driven analytics, where all data, being it granular, colossal or tangential, need to be complemented with new tools and technology available, such as the Internet of Things, Cloud, Big Data, Machine Learning and On-demand Analytics.

“What we see is that two things are happening in traditional companies. On one hand, they have to improve their operations, and on the other, there are disruptive changes such as data convergence, which is why companies need to unite both components”, explained Ravi in his presentation.

Furthermore, he warned that “Only 4% of companies are able to combine the right people, tools, data and organizational focus to take advantage of Big Data and Analytics.” For this reason, he advised, “the variety of data is becoming more important than the amount of it, because this allows to have a 360° look at the client, which is more useful.”
